3.3.1 Minimum Required Software
3.3.2 Recommended Hardware Requirements
Below is the recommended configuration for your desktop PC that will be used as a scanning workstation. You should try to get as new and as powerful a model as possible. Remember that the more powerful machine you get the easier it will be to handle software upgrades etc.
Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 or Windows 2000 Server/Professional with Service Pack 4.
DHS will install other software during the scanner installation in your agency. See 3.6 Scanner Remote Installation.

NOTE: Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0 is not allowed on the scan station PC at this time. See 3.6.3 and 3.6.7. |

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo/AMD Athlon 64 X2 or higher
System memory: 2 GB or higher
Disk space: 250 GB (7200 rpm) with at least 400 Mb free.
Display: 1024 x 768 with 24-bit color, small fonts
Browser: Internet Explorer 6 or later.
Network Card (NIC): 100 Mbps
Parallel Port: Enhanced bar code hardware key (optional). We don't yet know if this will be necessary but it is something to keep in mind IF we use bar code scanning devices.
USB Port: RecoStar hardware key (optional).
Known Problems With Chipsets, Motherboards, or PCI Buses: See 3.7 Known Problems for a list of issues with some PCI cards on some PC's.
